Hello, and thank you for visiting! I’m Lauren, and I write science fiction and fantasy books under the name L. M. Peralta. My first fantasy series The Elementals Trilogy is now available.

I currently live in Louisiana. When I’m not writing books, I’m watching horror movies and spending time with my Quaker Parakeet, Jetty.

L. M. Peralta was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a child, L. M. Peralta enjoyed reading and storytelling, but with so many other diverse interests, she wasn’t sure where life would take her. This all changed when she wrote her first novella at the age of eleven. Although no one would read it for many years, she knew then that writing was her passion.

Through her high school years, she continued to read fantasy and science fiction, reading such authors as T. H. White, Isaac Asimov, Cornelia Funke, and Anne Rice.

In 2007, L. M. Peralta enrolled at the University of New Orleans majoring in Literature. Although she greatly enjoyed her time at the University of New Orleans and her chosen major, she decided to pursue a career in law.

In 2011, L. M. Peralta was accepted to Tulane University Law School. There, she spent three years studying law and preparing to become an attorney. Law school was a time-consuming venture, and L. M. Peralta had little time for writing. She still read in copious amounts, but she was reading mostly dry law texts which was a world away from the action-fulled fantasy and science fiction novels that she had read in her younger years. After her first year in law school, L. M. Peralta missed writing so, despite her busy law school schedule and two jobs, she decided to edit one of the books that had been close to her heart, The Elementals.

In 2013, The Elementals was published. She graduated from Tulane University Law School the following year, and that year also published the second book in The Elementals Trilogy, The Council.

She started writing short stories and poetry at the age of ten, and she went on to writing full-length novels by the time she turned twelve years old. In all, she has written over a dozen novels, two of them published. She plans to write for a life time.
